Like A Simple Seed

(Isinulat noong 19 ng Pebrero, pagkatapos na basahin ni Ka Louie ang isang kuwento mula sa koleksyon ni Anthony de Mello, “Isang Minutong Karunungan”. After all the complexities of life, it is the simple things that create beautiful poems and really define what life and love is all about.)

Don’t love me like a precious stone
But love me like a simple seed.

A pearl from the deepest sea,
can move someone to cry for its beauty,
I may not.

A diamond from under the earth,
can ransom a beggar from poverty,
I may not.

A gold from the highest mountain,
can buy pleasures and happiness,
I may not.

You may plant a pearl,
You may plant a diamond
You may plant a gold,
But none of them will grow.

Don’t love me like a precious stone
But love me like a simple seed
And bury me on a loving soil
So that I may grow
And bear life,
And bear fruit,
And bear more seeds
That I may love forever.
